Hermeus, founded in 2018, is an American aerospace company developing hypersonic and high-Mach aircraft for defence and national security markets. The company applies rapid iterative prototyping methods to accelerate aircraft development, with the goal of building the world's fastest aircraft.
The company's primary programme, Quarterhorse, focuses on unmanned high-speed flight, with each aircraft designed to address specific technical challenges in the hypersonic domain. In May 2026, Hermeus became the fastest company in aviation history to progress from founding to supersonic flight. The firm has secured over $549 million in funding, including a $219 million agreement with the US Defense Innovation Unit.
Hermeus operates across multiple sites in the United States, with offices in Atlanta, Georgia, Los Angeles, Jacksonville, and Washington D.C. Its technical work spans hypersonic flight, high-Mach aircraft development, rapid iterative prototyping, and unmanned high-speed flight systems.
